Pasture Fed: Is It A Good Thing?

Pasture fed cattle or poultry is something that you may see promoted. Have you ever wondered why they don't just say naturally raised or even organic?

Don't get me wrong. This can be a good thing. As a matter of fact, it is how the natural or organic animals are raised.

But, you know something?

It can also be a term used to mislead you.

Let me explain...

A huge industrial farm lets it's cattle out on chemically treated grazing fields. The pesticides get into the animal and lodge in it's tissues.

The point is that the quality of the grazing lands is the deciding factor as to whether this method of feeding is a good thing.

When you shop, ask questions. You want to know what was used on the lands where the animals graze on.

You also want to know what they are fed in the off-season (winter).

Ask the questions and you may just find yourself a producer that uses traditional methods as second nature. That is exactly how how found my butcher. He uses no chemicals or antibiotics and the animals are graze.
